How CARB Compliance Works
California Legislation SB 210 requires all vehicles with a gross weight of 14,000lbs or more to go through the Heavy-Duty Vehicle Inspection and maintenance program. The California Air Resource Board (CARB) oversees that vehicles meet the program requirements and will deem the vehicle as compliant or non-compliant. In order to be CARB compliant you must do the following.
CARB Compliance Requirements:
- Registered with CA Air Resource Board:
- Register your vehicle with CARB’s Clean Truck Check Program.
- Pay a $30 annual fee per vehicle:
- Once you have registered your vehicle you will need to pay a $30 Annual Compliance fee per year.
- Perform your Clean Truck Check Periodic testing:
- Starting 2025 a Clean Truck Check Test must be performed to meet requirements. This test is like a smog check but for diesel vehicles. California State requires two tests semi-annually for all vehicles except RVs and agricultural vehicle which need only one per year.
